This new Store Designer role, reporting to the Manager, Store Design, plays a key role in enhancing customer experience through the planning and development of innovative, customer-centered store Designs. This role involves an integral collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure designs align with brand identity and business goals while maintaining consistency and driving new store format innovations. Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills are essential as the Designer balances aesthetics, functionality, and brand standards to create engaging, high-impact retail environments.
What you will be doing:
- Provides design interpretation and support to the Real Estate and Construction teams via concept drawings and vendor management, leveraging surveys, lease documents and established processes to execute Brand strategy.
- Subject matter expert in design process and execution, specializing in guiding projects from concept through completion with a strong focus on quality, innovation, and alignment with brand standards.
- Skilled in translating business objectives into impactful, functional design solutions, managing resources, timelines, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient, successful project delivery.
- Fundamental understanding of Building Codes, Municipal regulatory by laws ensuring compliant solutions align with business objectives.
- Plays an integral role in initiating approved Capital Projects within the internal Rexall working teams, ensuring a streamlined path to project execution, collaborating closely with business units to gather input and requirements, aligning objectives and securing support for successful project outcomes.
- Designs and generates a substantial volume of precise and detailed drawings, floor plans, interior elevations, exterior elevations, and 3D renderings, ensuring exceptional quality and accuracy that significantly contributes to the overall success of design projects throughout all phases, from the feasibility stage to the completion of the project.
- Supports the acquisition of new stores through examining existing site conditions and making design recommendations that adheres to Rexall Design Standards.
- Essential collaboration with Pharmacy Regulatory affairs providing support through interpretation of College of Pharmacy regulations into dispensary layouts and documentation for Pharmacy License submission and approval.
- Supports the Medical Clinic team in providing layouts, and interpretation of the Doctor’s group asks while maintaining Rexall Medical Clinic brand standards.
- Core collaboration with Architectural Consultants throughout all project phases, submits and awards RFP for projects assigned.
- In collaboration with the Construction Project Manager, revise the Architectural, Electrical and Mechanical Drawings, from Landlord and Architectural consultants, ensuring Rexall Standards are adhered to.
- Work with Signage vendor, providing design solution that adheres to Rexall brand standards, meets municipality by-laws, project deadlines and budgets.
- Coordinates and supports the development of new fixtures, signage & displays to improve and support product presentation.
- Attends weekly Design and Construction Capital Project Reviews to monitor project timelines, proactively identify risks, and ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Maintains AutoCAD and REVIT drawings to ensure drawing consistency and successful execution of updated merchandising, marketing strategies and revised standards.
- Assists in the presentation of design drawings to the senior leadership as required.
- Performs site visit for assigned projects and on site vendor meetings.
- Ensures all projects designs are in compliance with Company, provincial and federal policies & regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group Ltd.
How you will succeed:
- College diploma in Architectural Technology; University degree in a design discipline required.
- 3-5 years experience in the design sector preferred; 2-5 years relevant experience within a national, multi-unit retail environment also preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating the efforts of external vendors.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Excellent computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, is required.
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills required
- Strong experience managing multiple and competing priorities, while dealing with ambiguity
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and effectively within a team-setting
- Demonstrated experience in communicating with all levels of management
- Strong attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of construction methodologies, architectural design and planning principles.
- Working knowledge of the operating practices of construction, architectural and buildings
- Able to foster a cooperative business environment and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
