Lab Manager

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Lab manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the compounding lab, ensuring that the facility complies with all regulatory requirements and has the proper equipment necessary for each compound. 

How you will make impact: 

• Prepare standard operating procedures to establish policies for the compounding team to adhere to in order to produce safe and effective compounds.
• Train pharmacy compounding staff on the appropriate processes for making a compound.
• Manage the development of staff to ensure appropriate training is in place for the safe and effective preparation of the compounds.
• Monitor compounding prescription trends to identify changes to staffing/equipment that maybe needed to improve efficiency.
• Identify workflow improvements to ensure that compounds are released from the lab in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.
• Identify risks to the compounding business and provide options for mitigating the risks.
• Participate in discussions with around layout/designs of compounding labs elsewhere, as necessary based on business to support the overall organization.
• Source compounding supplies and ingredients in order to reduce expenses and maintain supply for compounding production.
• Manage the compounding lab to ensure that it meets the company’s objectives both fiscally and operationally. 
• Perform other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group Ltd.C

How you will succeed: 

• 5+ years of compounding laboratory experience
• 2+ years leadership experience
• Completion of compounding courses through a vendor such as Medisca or PCCA
• Certification in high-risk compounding, hazardous compounding, and cleaning and disinfection 
• Proficiency in compounding sterile and non-sterile products and utilization of the equipment necessary for these compounds (ie. Unguator, sterile hood, proper procedure for entering and exiting sterile room, repeater pump)
• Understanding of compounding ingredients and how they interact with one-another in the compound.
