Reporting to the Vice President FP&A and Acquisitions, the Director - Financial Planning & Analysis is a thought leader and key business partner responsible for the planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting and analysis of key performance metrics and drivers of financial performance related to Front Shop Merchandising, Marketing, and Loyalty.


What you will be doing:

  • Through active engagement, this position provides leadership to the Merchandising, Marketing, and Loyalty group in all planning, forecasting, budgeting, and analytical matters. This role takes and drives ownership and accountability for understanding how analytics can be used to make better informed decisions to optimize sales and maximize profits.
  • Provide meaningful insights and analytics into the day-to-day operating results to assist management in the decision-making process
  • Assist the business and share relevant financial data, to aid in the day-to-day execution and review of the business.
  • Prepare weekly/periodic business performance review materials for presentation to the Merchandise Leadership team.
  • Lead team in collaborating the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and analysis of category performance, marketing and loyalty effectiveness, as well as inventory productivity, including projections and comparison of financial estimates vs. budgets, while also looking ahead identifying related risks and opportunities. This also includes financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Provide recommendations for revenue and cost drivers, as well as process improvements.
  • Ensure business cases are developed and stakeholders are accountable for value realization for capital and resource planning.
  • Support growth and development of the team by providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring in order to drive high performance and elevate outcomes.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • University degree in Finance/ Commerce/ Accounting.
  • Professional accounting designation, CPA, or MBA Finance and Marketing required.
  • 6-8 years relevant finance management experience.
  • Sound retail experience required and pharmacy industry knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Must consolidate and regularly present (written & oral) data and operating/financial recommendations in an impactful way to senior management; ability to influence stakeholders of all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings and foster trust.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent senior management requests with confidence and vigor.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to be adaptable.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office; Knowledge of Budgeting/Planning or Performance Management software.
